      Lightning is the dischard of electrical energy that build up in the clouds (I don’t think anyone really knows why). High temperatures can cause could to rise higher and get bigger and lead to thunder storms.

      As Kate has said lightning is the discharge of electrical energy, which is caused because of high and cold temperatures that occur during storms
