Not really. It can be fairly stressful, as you always have to be pushing the next question, writing the next paper, writing the next grant. At the moment in my area it is very hard to get a permanent position as a lecturer or researcher…. especially for someone like me know needs access to one a very few laboratory facilities, but that won’t stop me doing what I am doing.
Definitely not! I love my job, and the people I work with. I think most scientists will agree that we work more than is expected of us. I’m very lucky to have gotten a permanent position early on in my career. Knowing that drives you to continue to achieve.
