      It’s really not about the money. I do what I do because it is interesting and I like doing it. Some geologists, especially in the oil and gas and mining industries earn several times what I do, but some of them do exactly the same thing every day, and I don’t know about you but I would get really bored.

      I have moved to Germany recently for a new job and get about €2400 a month before taxes.

      As a PhD I get something like £1300 per month.
      As Kate said, it is not about making good money, it’s about making good brain (and have fun)!

      It’s definitely not about the money, the salary that scientist get can vary a great deal between academia and industry. I get about £33500 a year.
      I wouldn’t change my job to earn more money, I’m very lucky that I get to go to a job everyday that I enjoy doing
