I had a rather unconvential route into science. I did my a-levels in English literature, sociology and politics with a view to either join the RAF or go into law. I really enjoyed my time at college and decided to continue on studying but really fell out of love with law very quickly. I took a course in computer science with a physics unit and loved it. I decided that’s what I wanted to do long term so applied to do a foundation year at university because I didn’t have the right qualifications to go straight onto a physics degree. I’m really glad I changed my mind from law.
I forgot to mention the project I’m working on…. I’m just starting a new project looking at possible alternatives to Titanium implants for hip and knee replacements. I’m looking at making materials that are a mixture of metal and a bone-like material that will hopefully promote new bone growth. I’ll have to wait and see if it works.
